Nursing homes across the country have been battling with the coronavirus since the pandemic began.

Loved ones of those that are in long term care facilities have been waiting for the moment to visit their family members.

On tuesday, governor brian kemp signed his latest coronavirus order that allows visitors to return to those facilities.

The order says that residents of long term care facilites should continue to shelter in place.

The order allows for a three-phased system for nursing homes that is based on, community spread, coronavirus testing and the length of time that the facility has gone without a new case.

Some nursing homes in georgia have been struggling with their covid-19 numbers.

Pruitt health has two facilities that are at alert code red status which means there is at least one presumptive positive case .

The center says that during that time they are limiting their own staff and not taking new patients.

N-h-c has two facilities located in northwest georgia, one in rossville and one in fort ogelthorpe.

The company says that they have made provisions at some of their facitlites across the nation.

They sent us a statement saying: we are working on our plan to meet these new visitation protocols to appropriately protect our patients and families.

We have communicated to all our families of our planning and verifying all the logistics needed to meet the new requirements ... our team is committed to keeping families connected with virtual visit and phone calls until outdoor visitation can begin.
