New, known cases of coronavirus over the past 24 hours.

That's nearly double the previous high of 109 cases, set last wednesday.

Oneida county executive anthony picente called a news conference to share that alarming number and bring us up to speed on some changes.

Newschannel 2's joleen ferris joins us live in the studio with what he had to say.

For one, the county is no longer announcing public exposures.

The reason-county executive anthony picente said with these numbers, it's clear the virus is expanding and is everywhere throughout our community.

Also, testing at griffiss, in rome, is expanding to seven days a week.

There are no current plans to expand zip- code testing, like they're doing now for the 13501 zip code, in utica.

Those numbers should be available in a few days.

And, the county executive said, the county won't be reporting new cases and other stats on thanksgiving.

We asked him how close the county is to entering the yellow zone, of expanded restrictions.

38:29 "we'll know more in the next couple days as we look at the overall infection rate.

But, again, i caution people we're not there, that's the good news, but we could easily get there" the county will publish an exposure if there's a particularly large one in a particular area with community spread attached to it.

If you've come in contact with someone who is positive, and you have symptoms, and get tested, you should stay isolated until those test results come back as well as stay quarantined for the 14-day period" back to you going county by county with the newest
