The issue honors those who have acted as “forces for good in the world.”.

The four individuals chosen this year are: George Clooney, Regina King, Dr. Anthony Fauci & Selena Gomez.

Clooney is being recognized for his “tireless human and civil rights advocacy” through his organization, The Clooney Foundation for Justice.

‘People’ also acknowledged the use of his “powerful” voice and platform to speak against political and social inequities.

King is being recognized for her work to encourage voting and advocate for marginalized communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘People’ called her “a powerful voice this year,” as she has consistently called for an end to police violence.

Dr. Fauci is being hailed by ‘People’ as the “doctor America needed in 2020.”.

His “steady guidance,” “devoted public service” and “life-saving leadership” is why ‘People’ chose to honor him.

Gomez is being recognized for giving her Instagram platform, which has over 195 million followers, over to Black activists in June.

Her makeup brand, Rare Beauty, also set a 10-year goal of raising $100 million that will go toward providing mental health services to people in need.
