The all-new Mercedes-Benz G-Class at a glance

AutoMotions

The all-new Mercedes-Benz G-Class continues the success story of the model series that was established in 1979. The off-road icon continues to rely on tried-and-tested ladder-frame construction, three mechanical differential locks and LOW RANGE off-road reduction as well as a rigid rear axle and independent front suspension. The redesigned off-road control unit, the new OFFROAD COCKPIT and the “transparent bonnet” enable a digital off-road experience. Thanks to electrification, the new models offer improved responsiveness off-road and greater comfort on paved roads. The mild hybrids with an integrated starter-generator and a 48-volt on-board electrical system also impress with increased performance and reduced fuel consumption. With the Mercedes-Benz User Experience infotainment system and 12.3-inch driver and media displays with touch control, the new G-Class is more connected than ever. A host of advanced safety and assistance systems support drivers. The MANUFAKTUR range for extensive customisation of both exterior and interior has been expanded once again. Subtly modified exterior with new radiator grille featuring four instead of the previous three horizontal louvres and redesigned bumpers both front and rear. New A-pillar cladding, a spoiler lip on the roof edge and new insulation materials contribute to improved aerodynamics and increased acoustic comfort. The new Mercedes-Benz EQV AVANTGARDE Design in Kalahari gold metallic

AutoMotions

Mercedes-Benz will pursue a differentiated strategic approach with its vans in the future. As presented last year (2023), the company is aiming for a premium strategy for its commercial vans. In the future, a focused luxury strategy will apply to all newly developed, privately positioned vans, as is the case for all Mercedes‑Benz passenger cars. The aim is to fully implement this strategic change with the introduction of the upcoming modular and scalable Van Electric Architecture – VAN.EA for short – from 2026. The new private midsize vans EQV and V-Class are an important milestone on this path. Both are further elevated with new exterior and interior designs. There is also an increase in comfort and safety, especially thanks to more intelligent, digital networking. The models have been available to order from Mercedes‑Benz sales partners and online since January 2024. The standard equipment has been comprehensively upgraded and thereby tailored more precisely to customer requirements. The new V-Class starts at a list price of 59,470.25 euros[1], the new EQV from 75,281.78 euros. The new V-Class also forms the basis for the V-Class Marco Polo camper van, which is offered ex factory. It starts at 80,004.89 euros1 and adopts the model's attractiveness almost completely.

Jeep® Low Down Concept Walkaround

AutoMotions

Fifteen years ago, the Jeep design team wowed attendees at the 43rd annual Easter Jeep Safari with the radically modified Jeep Wrangler Lower 40. Rolling at stock ride height to maintain its center of gravity, the two-door Lower 40 accommodated huge 40-inch mud-terrain tires while packing a 5.7-liter V-8 under hood for prodigious power. An instant classic, the Lower 40 still draws a crowd a decade-and-a-half later and remains one of the fan favorites of all EJS concepts. The new Low Down concept pays homage to the Lower 40, in which by some creative clearance work, this new Jeep Wrangler concept squeezes massive 42-inch BFGoodrich Krawler 42x14.5R20 mud-terrain tires mounted on 20-inch beadlock wheels under its custom high-clearance carbon fender flares. The stock Wrangler Rubicon 392 suspension remains intact, but Dana 60 axles with 5.38 gears replace the standard Dana 44 axles with 4:10 gears. Between the diameter of the tires and the shortening of the front and rear bumpers, the Low Down’s center of gravity remains low, while the ground clearance, breakover, and approach and departure angles all get dramatic increases. The body, coated in deep Poison Apple Red paint, is streamlined via removal of the rear door handles, a custom carbon hood with see-through power dome and a bespoke race-style fuel filler door located in the driver-side rear quarter panel. The interior features custom black leather seats with cloth inserts, Rhino-lined floors and a custom radio-delete instrument panel. A purpose-built, red-tinted bikini top casts a warm red glow upon the interior compartment. Like its Lower 40 predecessor, the Jeep Low Down is powered by a V-8 engine, though in this modern interpretation, that translates to the formidable 475-horsepower 6.4-liter 392 V-8 engine, which is mated to an eight-speed automatic.

Maserati MCXtrema - the 'beast' is unleashed on the track ahead of first delivery

AutoMotions

Maserati MCXtrema, the Trident's uncompromising 730-hp ‘beast’ has returned to be unleashed into its natural environment: the track. It will be undergoing a series of tests until late April, aiming at the delivery of the first model, planned for late summer 2024. MCXtrema, a non-road-homologated race car produced in 62 units, was created to break the mould and invent new paradigms. The epitome of Maserati DNA and of the extraordinary performance characteristic of everything the 100% Italian brand produces, MCXtrema offers up evidence of its disruptive attitude to racing between the curbs of the circuit where it could be seen in action in a series of fundamental tests to gather the data needed for the final tune-ups. The Trident’s exclusive creation is one of the brand’s boldest cars in terms of development and is an evolution of the Maserati MC20 super sports car, its inspiration and basis. In February, it had its first official outing at the Autodromo Varano de' Melegari (Parma), where MCXtrema was taken to the track by Maserati chief test driver Andrea Bertolini, one of the most successful drivers in the GT class with four world titles aboard the glorious MC12, who has been working on its development in the dynamic simulator since the early stages. The February shakedown and subsequent milestones to refine its performance have been the ideal setting to unleash the full power of the 730-hp (540-kW) 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine, based on the Maserati Nettuno and taken to the next level. MCXtrema has benefited from the latest and most advanced equipment in the world that Maserati has access to. Fundamental contributions have been made by the Virtual Analysis team, using the cutting-edge technology in the Maserati dynamic simulator, and by the Powertrain Calibration team, in charge of managing the enormous power delivered by the Nettuno engine. The experience gained during the development of the Maserati MC20, the in-depth characterisation of each component and the stringent bench tests on the engine have guaranteed the greatest accuracy in the simulation, ensuring that an extremely meaningful car would reach the track testing stages with figures similar to the validations in the simulator, required purely for real-world fine tuning.

BMW Protection Driving maneuvers incl. night driving

AutoMotions

The two-stage BMW Security Vehicle Training course was developed for participants who, as professional drivers, are responsible for the safety of their passengers. The BMW instructors teach the basics of driving physics and driving technique as well as tactical knowledge that will help drivers to act safely and confidently even in extreme situations. Under the guidance of the instructors, they learn to test and improve their driving skills in realistic practice scenarios, even under challenging conditions - such as in escape situations. With a maximum of eight participants per group and two passengers per vehicle, an intensive and personalised learning experience is guaranteed. The two-day basic training course focuses on basic driving techniques using special protection vehicles. Due to their armouring and the associated additional weight, special protection vehicles have a specific driving behaviour that must be taken into account when handling them. The first day's training includes various driving elements, including emergency braking and evasive manoeuvres, as well as exercises in the dark. The night training programme includes braking and evasive manoeuvres on a slalom course, alternating between high beam, dipped beam and parking lights. To simulate the ability to orientate and react to threat scenarios on an unfamiliar route, the participants are also confronted with explosions on a confusing forest road. On the second day, in addition to high-speed handling and evasive manoeuvres in bends, the curriculum includes a real threat scenario with a simulated vehicle attack. The J-turn is an effective escape manoeuvre that involves turning the vehicle from reverse to forward without losing speed to escape a dangerous situation in the opposite direction. Other key components of the basic module include anticipatory driving and the ability to maintain a perfect overview even under stress.

2024 Toyota C-HR PHEV Interior Design in Precious silver

AutoMotions

The first Toyota C-HR was a milestone for both the Toyota brand and the European C-SUV segment. The next generation of the successful model is now being launched. It takes the outstanding quality of its predecessor to a higher level: with avant-garde design, advanced technologies and extensively improved electrified drives that offer higher performance, livelier driving dynamics and an extended electric range. As such, the new Toyota C-HR has all the qualities to maintain its position as an iconic model, attract new customers and strengthen the Toyota brand in Europe.

Mercedes-AMG E 53 HYBRID 4MATIC+ Estate Exterior Design

AutoMotions

With the new Mercedes-AMG E 53 HYBRID 4MATIC+ as a saloon and estate, the performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach is presenting two further plug-in hybrid models. They combine outstanding performance and driving dynamics with a long electric range. The combination of the 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line engine and the permanently excited E-synchronous machine generates a maximum system output of 430 kW (585 HP) and a maximum system torque of 750 Nm. The performance is correspondingly dynamic: acceleration from 0‑100 km/h takes place in 3.8 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 280 km/h (saloon with optional AMG Driver's Package). Up to 140 km/h are possible purely electrically. The 120-kW electric motor is integrated into the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission to save space. The high-power density of the hybrid power unit is achieved by the permanently excited internal rotor synchronous technology. The electric motor's maximum torque of 480 Nm is available from the first revolution and ensures high agility even when starting off. The traction battery with 400 volts has a gross capacity of 28.6 kWh and is installed in the rear under the trunk floor. The energy content that can be used every day is smaller at 21.22 kWh, as part of the energy is always reserved for boosting and thus high-performance driving. Nevertheless, the high-voltage battery enables an electric range of up to over 100 kilometres.

DSC-Track prioritises driver safety by implementing over-steer control in hazardous spins that the driver is unable to correct. DSC-Track allows the driver to remain in control until the very last second, only then it will intervene. The Asymmetric Limited Slip Differential (Asymmetric LSD) stabilises vehicle turn-in behaviour. In particular, bolstering the slip-limiting force during deceleration improves stability when braking into a turn, where reduced rear wheel ground load leads to vehicle instability. Optimizing slip limiting force and preload specifically for the MX-5's engine, suspension, and tyre characteristics results in smoother and more linear turning performance. Turning stability has thus been enhanced to make manoeuvring easier in urban areas, as well as on winding roads. The 2024 Mazda MX-5 features advanced LED headlights that now seamlessly combine with the daytime running lights. Furthermore, the rear lights have undergone subtle revisions, and LEDs are now used also on the turn signals. The exterior changes are complete with a new paint option, ""Aero Grey Metallic"", which replaces “Platinum Quartz”, and 16- and 17-inch wheel designs. Enhancements for 2024 also extend to the interior, which gains a redesigned 8.8-inch centre display with Android Auto™ and Apple Car Play® running wirelessly, a frameless rear-mirror and a suede-like seat material called Leganu®.

2024 Toyota Yaris DPL Premiere Edition Driving in the city

AutoMotions

A significant contribution to the increased attractiveness of the Yaris is made by the further developed full hybrid drive, which contributes to a more active and exciting driving experience. In addition to the proven drive with 116 hp, Toyota also offers the 1.5-liter hybrid in a second performance variant with 130 hp. This is due to the use of the new transaxle transmission, which comes from Toyota's current fifth hybrid generation. In addition, a larger and more powerful electric motor generator is used. Together with the revised software of the control unit (PCU), the total output of the 1.5-liter system increases by twelve percent from 85 kW/116 hp to 96 kW/130 hp. The torque also increases significantly across the entire speed range: by 30 percent from 141 Nm to 185 Nm. This leads to noticeably faster acceleration. Not only was the time for the sprint from zero to 100 km/h reduced by half a second to 9.2 seconds, the acceleration from 80 to 120 km/h also improved by almost half a second to 7.5 seconds This particularly pays off when overtaking. At the same time, CO2 emissions have only increased slightly; The Yaris remains best in class as a 130 hp hybrid with 95 to 96 g/km. The 116 hp version boasts even lower CO2 emissions of 87 to 91 g/km.
