From the Archives, 1978: Santa escapes plane crash near Sale

An RAAF training plane carrying Santa Claus was destroyed in a crash landing at Sale air force. Hundreds of children waiting for Santa to land and give out presents watched as the plane clipped a 10-metre pine tree and dropped to the ground. Both Santa and the pilot were unhurt.
