Yandal Resources Ltd’s (ASX:YRL) shallow high-grade gold results continue to enhance the potential of Flushing Meadows deposit within the Ironstone Well Gold Project in WA’s highly prospective Yandal Greenstone Belt. Further 1-metre sample assay results from reverse circulation (RC) drilling will support an updated mineral resource estimate (MRE) planned for the September quarter. Strong results Best results are 8 metres at 3.76 g/t from 27 metres including 1-metre at 13.40 g/t; and 11 metres at 3.35 g/t from 50 metres including 1-metre at 16.99 g/t. The drilling was completed in May 2020 to expand and upgrade the initial 190,000-ounce MRE and to support open pit mine development activities at the prospect. “Should improve confidence” Yandal Resources’ managing director Lorry Hughes said: “The aim of this program is to reduce the distance between drill holes in areas containing mineralisation that have potential to be included in an optimised open pit design. “Reducing the distance between mineralised intervals coupled with consistent QA/QC sampling programs should improve confidence in the updated MRE when completed.” Other strong results are: 6 metres at 3.29 g/t from 60 metres including 1-metre at 14.57 g/t; 11 metres at 2.40 g/t from 11 metres including 1-metre at 16.16 g/t; and 5 metres at 6.38 g/t from 72 metres including 1-metre at 17.60 g/t. Further results expected Results from a further 51 holes are expected to be returned this month and next month. Flushing Meadows is 60 kilometres southeast of the mining town of Wiluna and within close proximity to a number of gold development projects and operating mines. Yandal plans to next month begin a diamond drill program for geotechnical, metallurgical and hydrogeological assessment as part of an open pit mining feasibility study. Hughes said: “The upcoming diamond drill program will provide important information for the determination of key engineering parameters to be used in the pit design and the economic assessment of the deposit.” Mining plans The feasibility study, mining proposal and mine closure plan contemplate construction of a conventional open pit mining operation with road haulage to third-party processing facilities conducted by contractors and managed by Yandal. Workstreams are to be conducted by a combination of Yandal personnel and independent resource industry consultants. Independent consultants have been awarded contracts for the completion of suitable geotechnical, groundwater and surface water studies to support this study and a number of work programs have started.
