On Tuesday, Shelby County reported more new coronavirus cases than on any previous day — 700. While this number is largely attributable to a backlog of tests being returned too slowly, Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris called it "a signal to all of us that we are not out of the woods yet, by any stretch," during a Tuesday, July 14, news conference.
