State bill providing eviction and foreclosure protection during Covid-19 advances

Legislation aimed at protecting California tenants and landlords struggling to make rent and mortgage payments due to the Covid-19 crisis was greenlighted by the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday. Assembly Bill 1436, sponsored by Assemblyman David Chiu, D-San Francisco, was forwarded with a 6-0 vote and will move to the Senate Appropriations Committee next for a hearing.
