Frontier Airlines, stuck in a money-losing slump, is dumping change fees and making other moves

Frontier Airlines is dropping those dreaded change fees, at least for some of its passengers. The discount airline said on Friday that it's creating four types of fares. The cheapest tickets, called “basic,” won't let you cancel or change a ticket, but the other fare categories will. Most other U.S. carriers eliminated change fees during the pandemic, but Frontier had resisted — until now. Frontier advertises low fares but tacks on more fees than the larger airlines. Frontier and other budget carriers are facing tougher competition from the bigger airlines for the most cost-conscious travelers.
