Oscar #Worldpeace Is A Star In Rising
The story of his bold debut album 'Sporadic'...
From releasing an album in lockdown to preparing for fatherhood, London rapper *Oscar #Worldpeace *hasn’t had a whole lot to content within the early part of his career.
The rapper, who has worked closely with Mike Skinner, released his debut album Spoadic this month. While he hasn’t been able to release the album in his way, he said that there have been some added benefits to releasing music in a lockdown.
“I wanted to do more things outside in the build-up to the release and I want to do a show a lot sooner. I had planned an outdoor listening party and a car tour in the midlands, but I have had to stick to doing live posts on IG,” Oscar said.
“There is a blessing behind it, as it has given smaller artists the same opportunity as the bigger artists. The Colors appearance was something that I probably wouldn’t have been able to do without lockdown.”

Going into the nine-track album, Oscar wanted to make it a conceptual project, but he stripped it down and enlisted the support of his musical friends to have a feature on every track.
It is a distinctly London-sounding record, inspired by family and his experience of being a black British youth Oscar effortlessly jumps from hip-hop UK Garage, grime and R&B, teaming up with RagzOriginale and BenjiFlow in ‘Mmm’, Etta Bond and Knucks in ‘Evening Time’ and The Streets in ‘Leave The Devil Outside’.
Opener ‘Shine’ is named after Oscar’s son, a new arrival last summer who graces the album cover and can also be heard on the intro. He said: “Having a son and getting married has made me calm, zen and happy. You see happiness in a baby, and it bring it all back when you have a family to go back to, you realise that this is what is real.”
“What is real is at home and it makes me approach much with calmness and not attack it how I used to. In the album, you can hear me as a family man. It is fun, it’s much happier than my older music.”
