It's out on October 16th...

London-Margate three-piece *Wicketkeeper* will release new album 'Shonk' on October 16th.

The band is comprised of brothers Simon (vocals, drums, guitar) and Alex Morley (bass, drums, guitar), and Ryan Oxley (bass, guitar), drawing on shared influences such as early Pavement, and prime era Sebadoh.

Quietly working with real alacrity, the project seemingly entered East London's Gun Factory studio last year with more than 50 songs under their belt.

Working quickly alongside producer Lindsay Corstorphine, the resulting album lands this Autumn.

Out on October 16th, 'Shonk' is led by new single 'The Side', and it's a blast of crunching J Mascis riffs and curious power pop inflections - think The Cars let loose with some antique Big Muffs and you'd be close.

Simon Morley explains...

Have you ever seen someone in a crowd and recognised them, but then realised it’s because they look like you? I have, it probably says something about my ego tbh.

One of my favourite songs to play live because it's got a real loose breezy vibe, which suits my, erm 'style' of 'drumming'! The lyrics swing quite erratically from droll arrogance to romantic realism, with a sprinkling of Michael McIntyre-esque observational comedy (facepalm).

Tune in now.

'Shonk' will be released on October 16th.
