Kolkata: KMC fines 2 property owners Rs 1 lakh each for garbage pile-up, water on premises

The KMC has slapped the highest fine amount of Rs 1 lakh on the owners of two properties-one a house in New Alipore and the other a vacant plot close to the area-for unkempt premises, turning into mosquito-breeding ground. The owner of the New Alipore property allowed water to stagnate and garbage to accumulate on the premises, while the owner of the vacant plot did nothing to stop people from dumping garbage on his land, said officials.
