Agniveer from Maharashtra, who dies at Siachen Glacier, was labourer's son and sole breadwinner

Agniveer Akshay Laxman Gawate, a soldier in the Indian Army, died in the line of duty at Siachen Glacier. He complained of uneasiness while sleeping and was taken to the hospital but could not be revived. His uncle Sahebrao Gawate, a retired soldier, told TOI, "He was a very hard-working and sincere boy from the village. It was his dream to join the Army. He had prepared hard for the Agniveer recruitment rally and practice day in and day out before the rally to achieve his dream of joining the Indian Army."
