Border residents in Arnia, India are cleaning underground bunkers to seek shelter from cross-border shelling by Pakistan. The residents have lost trust in Pakistan and are demanding more bunkers to protect themselves. India and Pakistan had announced a renewed ceasefire in February 2021, but Pakistan has frequently violated the agreement. The government had previously sanctioned the construction of 14,460 individual and community bunkers, but many of them are inundated, lack maintenance, and basic facilities like toilets and electricity.
