Visva-Bharati's Vice-Chancellor, Bidyut Chakrabarty, faced criticism and was likened to a "Class IV standard BJP cadre" by the Trinamool Congress after he sent a four-page letter to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, requesting the return of a road through the campus. The dispute is rooted in a long-standing land issue with Nobel laureate Amartya Sen and a recent plaque that omitted Rabindranath Tagore's name. Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh criticized the VC's language.
