Kercheval, a native of Houston, has an impressive legal and military background. After graduating from the United States Naval Academy and serving as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy, he returned to Houston to pursue a law degree at South Texas College of Law Houston. There, Kercheval excelled as a Mock Trial Advocate, earning the prestigious "John O'Quinn Heart of an Advocate" award.
Following law school, Kercheval served as a Judge Advocate with the Texas Army National Guard, defending soldiers charged under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). In 2013, he founded The Kercheval Law Firm, handling criminal, family, and probate cases, and later served as the defense attorney for the Montgomery County Veteran's Treatment Court.
