First 'murder hornet' nest in US found near Blaine

Entomologists from the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) located the first known Asian giant hornet nest in the country in Whatcom County on Thursday. The nest was found inside a tree cavity on private property east of Blaine, Washington. Agents were alerted to the possibility of a nest in the area after successfully trapping two hornets on Wednesday.
