North Korea scraps military deal with South, upping tensions

North Korea has announced that it is ending an agreement with South Korea aimed at reducing military tensions, following its successful launch of a spy satellite into orbit. North Korea has stated that it will restore all military measures that were halted under the agreement and will deploy more powerful armed forces and new military hardware along the border with South Korea. South Korea has vowed to punish North Korea if it engages in further provocations. In addition to the satellite launch, North Korea also fired a ballistic missile, although the launch appears to have failed.
