New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said on Saturday (March 23) she was humbled by the support and solidarity of the Muslim community at a mosque in Auckland.

Hundreds of people gathered at the Masjid e Umar mosque to hear Ardern praise the hospitality of her hosts, with the Prime Minister saying that all that she has done was echo "the humanity of New Zealanders".

Wearing a hijab, Ardern greeted and hugged several of the mosque attendees, including young Muslim girl Saffiye Basar who gifted the Prime Minister with an artwork.
