Methodist Dallas Medical Center streamed Jenna Schardt’s “awake” brain surgery .

On their Facebook page Tuesday morning.

.

Schardt wanted the surgery to be livestreamed to help others who would have to go through a similar operation.

.

The surgery was to remove “a tangled ball of blood vessels,” according to NBC News.

.

She had to remain awake so that doctors could ensure they were not damaging critical parts of her brain.

.

After reaching her brain, doctors showed the 25-year-old Schardt words to read and images on an iPad.

.

If we go into the wrong spot, that could cost her the ability to speak, so that's why we have to map out the speech areas first before we go on.
