House Passes Rules for Trump Impeachment Inquiry

House Passes Rules for Trump Impeachment Inquiry.

The resolution passed 232-196 with no support from House GOP members.

The Democrats' impeachment process against President Trump will now move into the next phase.

This includes having public hearings which were previously held private.

Lawmakers' votes will be counted on for further impeachment process.

Trump himself will also now formally be involved in the inquiry.

Democrats lamented at their decision, but say the president needs to be held accountable.

This is a sad day for our country.

If we don't hold this president accountable, we could be ceding our ability to hold any president accountable, House Rules Committee Chairman Jim McGovern, via statement.

Trump is under scrutiny for allegedly asking foreign countries to investigate political rivals.

The information was revealed by a whistleblower, who says Trump made requests to the Ukraine in July.

Sadly, this is not any cause for any glee or comfort.

This is something that is very solemn, that is prayerful, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, via statement
