Dr. Jonathan Amspacher joins us to talk about breast augmentation.

.

>> dr. an factor is here to talk about breast augmentation, i guess there's not much to say than we're going to talk about it.

>> it's the number one or two biggest or most common surgery in america.

>> for cosmetic procedures, it's the most common, going back and forth with liposuction performed from 250 to 350,000 times a year.

>> work that's a lot.

And i'm sure there are a lot of different doctors you can go to.

>> and there's a lot to think about when you're thinking about it.

So i say if you're giving consideration to it, do your research and give it thoughtful research into deciding what to do, when to do it, and there are a few key questions whenever they do it, so i think there are four things that are really important when you give it serious thought, one is the most common, what size should i get?

I say the best way to measure and dimensions of your breast and chest width and give them a more natural appearance or some that want a artificial appearance and i tell them to think where the incision go, some want to do it in the armpit and some in the belly button, but that is so far away, it has the highest risk of complicatations so that's not recommended.

I say around the nipple or areola and if i should use saline or silicone, there are benefits to each, saline is less costly with a high safety profile, silicone is more natural feeling and looking and higher cost, so there's a trade-off with each and every one you chews, so the things folks think about, should i put the implant above or below the muscle, and i say below the muscle is the best position in most cases giving you the lowest risk of problems afterwards, so there's a lot of little questions that go into it and for biggest reasons, folks tell me, i had better breast volume when i was pregnant and most of my patients are in my 30s and 40s saying i have deflation and lost volume and i like what i looked like when i had full breast, so we'll go restore some of that volume and it makes patients really happy.

>> it really makes sense.

We were talking one time that some surgeries, they are very effective and sometimes with lifts, people say lift, lift, lift and really, you should think about augmentation as opposed to just doing a lift if they're going to do something.

>> it really depends what they're looking for, because some folks say in a good, supportive bra, i like the volume and in most cases that's just a lift.

Some say i like a padded bra better to give me the shape i want, if look i want when i look in the mirror and some cases,
