Waay 31's sierra phillips grew up in nashville.

She spent the day in the city talking with people as they come together to rebuild.

The clean-up efforts here in nashville are in full swing.

Strangers are coming together to help their neighbors and they've got a lot of work to do.

Take a look at just a small piece of the devastation you can see debris is everywhere, that electric pole toppled into the roof during the storms!

But nashville natives are finding hope by lending a hand.

Through this north nashville neighborhood you can see there's still a lot of serious damage to clean up.

But-- through the devastation you also see a community coming together.

I caught up with charles scott and jonas oglesby at their cookout just outside the neighborhood.

They told me they set up at 10am to provide free food to anyone who needs it.

Oglesby "to see the devastation that's taken place, its heartbreaking, but the thing you find solace in is seeing the community coming together.

" they're not alone.

Many people i talked with are working to clean-up homes belonging to people they never met before wednesday.

Mayor john cooper said so many people are signing up to volunteer through "hands on nashville" their website crashed multiple times.

"air b-and-b" is working to hel the people affected by the deadly storms in tennessee.

The company announced it's "open homes" program.

The program offers free temporary housing to people who need it.

That includes both relief workers and people whose homes are damaged.

"air b-and-b" is also urging people who have availability in their homes to come forward and help.

There are several ways you can help those affected by the deadly storms. you can donate non-clothing items to the community resource center.

You can also donate money to the community foundation of middle tennessee.
