WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Across the nation, medical centers are reporting critical shortages of protective equipment they need to keep workers and patients safe.

Now, one doctor has created a homemade solution to help fill the void.

Reach the first five thousand deaths, and now five thousand americans have lost their lives in the past three days alone.

When it comes to the critical shortage of protective gear volunteers are coming up with homemade solutions to help fill the void.

Warner robins orthodontist doctor don spillers has started 3-d printing masks for health care providers... that are having a difficult time finding n-95 masks.

During this time, spillers was only seeing emergency patients.

So he says... printing the masks was something his office could do ... to help other medical professionals.

"the idea was to help supplement the problems we had with the n95 masks and try to get healthcare workers that are seeing c1 3 b13 emergency patients working in that environment, since there was such a shortage.

According to spillers... it takes about four hours to produce each mask.
