Hospitals prepare for possible peak

Xx deaths.

Some good news for you this morning -- social distancing here in madison county appears to be working!

Waay 31's rodneya ross is live at crestwood hospital.

Rodneya -- we've learned that we are flattening the curve here.

That's right...but that doesn't mean now's the time to throw a party.

At yesterday's daily briefing crestwood hospital ceo dr. pam hudson said current models show cases in alabama peaking next week.

Right now -- it appears the hospitals here will be able to manage the peak without putting too much stress on the system.

Even though hudson described the situation as "so far, so good" she still had this warning for people.

'so far, so good' means we are one graduation party, one funeral, one wedding, one gathering where people are not careful - from having a spike in cases.

Hudson also shared the hospital and local officials are working together to come up with a plan to keep people healthy as they go back to work.

Later today -- we are expect to hear from the c-e-o of huntsville hospital at the daily news conference.
