> gaudet: we instituted a new policy and that means face coverings for everyone!

Macon transit authority public information officer, jami gaudet, says the decision is being made quote "in an abundance of caution".

Gaudet: as we learn more about the science and we listen to policies with apta which is the american public transit association we get more information and our policies evolved.

Gaudet says drivers must also wear a mask.

A face covering may be a traditional, recognizable mask or a makeshift mask.

But, it must cover the nose and mouth!

Gaudet: they can use a bandana they can use a piece of cloth or fabric put the key to that is it must be affixed to the head no one will be allowed on a bus without a face covering.

Gaudet explained this is the safiest way to keep buses running, since many people rely on the transit system.

Gaudet: we understand that transit service is a lifeline for a lot of people saying must have it to go to the doctor or to go to the pharmacy where to go to the grocery store.

With the new policy now in effect, temperature checks will continue.

Gaudet: our intent always is to lead and if you were to and as we mentioned, macon-bibb
