This paddle boarder was left stunned as a large grey whale started to follow him through the waters off Dana Point, California.
The marine mammal is seen swimming close to the surface as the paddle boarder attempts to gain a closer look.
Filmer Matt Larmand told Newsflare: "A stand-up paddle boarder got a nice surprise when this juvenile grey whale surfaced next to him.
He followed the grey whale for about 1/4 mile.
The whale can be seen swimming under the paddle boarder and surfacing right next to him, very close to shore." This encounter was filmed on April 26.
