Lauderdale, Colbert businesses excited to re-open once coronavirus restrictions loosen

A unique perspective - , breken?

In this story you will hear from one business owner who told me her store has had an increase of sales and another businesses that's been devestated by this but is learning new skills to navigate the market.

Regardless both stores are ready to physically open their doors.

Sandra cox tate- it's a huge relief.

I called sandra cox-tate the owner of louise's flowers and gifts after governor ivey announced she could open her store back up.

Sandra cox tate- we're still going to do the curbside pick up.

That's actually worked out really well for us.

Ashley morrow owns shoppes at coldwater in tuscumbia.

Her retail store has actually seen growth.

Ash 4:00- we doubled down on our digital strategy and did a lot to connect with our customers online we had already started doing that.

People being bored in quarentine and our shop has actually grown and i would say were some of the lucky few that have seen growth.

Me: while you were watching the governor announce her phase one reopen plan what was your reaction to that?

Ash 3:00- i was glad to see there was a reopen plan that was thoughtful that wasn't just lets open the doors and go back into it.

The fact is we may have stabilized but we have not seen the declining numbers that we need to really open the economy back up and wide open.

I think it's a cautious approach.

Morrow told me her plan is to have people come in for the next few weeks by appointment only.

And you'll have to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer.

Morrow 10:57- you'll have to wear masks in here we will wear masks when we have customers in here and it's those small guidelines that have been put out that hopefully when they're together can create a safer shopping environment and that's what small businesses can do over the big guys.> morrow, is also a small business coach, said this really shows the importance of having a digital imprint as a business... cox tate told me she's moved a lot of her businesses online to stay a float and that's stopped her flower shop from tanking.

She's now looking to do more sales online.

Breken you were there when the governor announced her plan and we're hearing a lot from businesses about plans to keep people safe.

I know you asked the governor about that exact thing.

What did she tell you?
