The housing crisis has been an issue in minnesota for quite some time... but now?

The pandemic is making it worse.

Kimt news 3's annalise johnson is finding out there's some pressure on state lawmakers to put major funding toward affordable housing initiatives.

She joins us live to explain.

Annalise?

Live yeah katie?

I'm here in my apartment in rochester.

If you live in the med city?

You already know how difficult it is to find an affordable place to live.

Now?

Many are facing unemployment and furloughs but still have rent and mortgages to keep up on.

And let's not forget the homeless don't have a home to isolate in during a stay at home order.

State and local lawmakers joined advocates to rally support?

Virtually?

Today... for 500 million dollars in housing infrastructur e bonds.

I tuned into the homes for all rally on zoom?

And heard from people whose lives have been impacted by the housing crisis.xxx my home is amazing, and its mine and that means so much to me.

My kids are grown and they can come here whenever they need to.

I havent had that for a really long time governor walz and leiutenant governor flanagan joined the call to give their support for this funding.

Walz says he would like to see this push through the legislature within the next 10 days.

Live in rochester annalise johnson kimt news 3.
