New Hartford Baseball

Sports season has been devastating for players, coaches, and fans.

-- one of those teams affected is the new hartford baseball program led by head coach kevin green and he gives a different perspective on the new reality.

Kevin green: if it weren't for the sport itself you know i don't know if i continue want to pursue my dreams of becoming a baseball player because you need that schooling.

And these kids need motivation and right now they are kids that are struggling because this is their motivation.

Nine seniors would have been on this year's roster.

Yes, they would have been able to show their development in their play.

But the loss of the season also prevents their growth in leadership.

Kevin green: for me my perspective on that is the underclassmen have lost the opportunity to see that senior leader ship from the kids that would've been in the senior class and i think for me that's the most disheartening thing.

But coach isn't dwelling on the inevitable.

He hopes that this situation helps his players appreciate the game even more.

Kevin green: we just hope that they can go out and if they go to college and choose to compete and play baseball and that's something that they do that they'll never forget this and it will be a motivator for them and something that they approached the game or maybe they'll play a little bit harder because they know what it's like to have something that they want to be taken away from them not by their choice but by this pandemic.
