This morning ward six councilmember ann?lissa johnson announced she will not seek reelection when her term expires later this year.

George spoke with johnson in a kimt exclusive interview.

The pandemic really is what prompted this devoted public servant to make her move.

Johnson is a businessperso n and her business good dog camp was hard hit by the pandemic.

The stay at home order prevented her from doing any face to face training.

Boarding was allowe?

But people don't need their dog boarded when they are staying at home.

When the pandemic started and i had to close most of the business operations down, that was kind of what pushed me towards this decision.

The always positive johnson is optimistic.

Good dog camp was poised to have its best year ever before the pandemic hit.

Now as johnson resumes training operations with the stay at home order lifte?

She expects her business to pick up steam again.

To make that happen, though, will require her full attention.

She will leave city council with a feeling of gratitude.

I'm thankful that the people of rochester put their trust in me to help represent them after building the business she calls "her baby" into a thriving operation, johnson wanted to give back by serving on city council.

She would clearly like to see rochester elect council members who share that view of positive public service.

As the campaigns move forward and people come forward to represent the citizens of rochester, i think we should look for people who want to bring a positive point of view who are willing to compromise and think full disclosur?

The dog featured in my story is not a client's dog, it is johnson's own bernese mountain dog, shakti.

As shakti is a six year old pup who kind of does her own thing.

It is worth noting, though, that johnson's clients rave about the work she does with their dogs at good dog camp.
