Staff.jpg memorial day ceremonies were different today because of the coronavirus.

A lot of ceremonies were online.

At camp nelson national cemetery in nicholasville..

The annual public memorial day event was canceled..

But loved ones could still visit gravesites.

Sisters kay combs and maria knies went to visit the grave of their father... george washington combs... who served in korea and did two tours of duty in vietnam.

He died almost five years ago.

They say pandemic or not...it's important to honor those who died serving their country and all those who served.

From 03:23:12:08 - 03:23:29:00 "well, memorial day is in memory of your loved ones that you've lost, not only have we lost our dad, we had a wonderful under that lost, and he served in the military and so for us, we're a military family, this is what you do."

They are a military family...the sisters say their mother, and brother also served in the military.

There was a 22- mile...ruck march today in central kentucky..

To bring awareness to veteran suicide.

According to the latest statistics..

About 22-veterans commit suicide a day.

This morning's ruck march to bring awareness to that..

Started at white hall park in richmond.

It ended at v-f-w post 27-28... in winchester.

People marched with rucksacks or backpacks, carrying 22 pounds.

Today's march also included... current service-members.
