As protests continue across the country and here in chattanooga.

Many have been concerned over safety issues on the public.

Locally and earlier this week an armed protester was taken into custody on multiple charges.

Chattanooga police say he was carrying an a-r 15 with magazines.

They say rifles can be used for hunting, traget shooting and can be carried in your vehicle.

Police say that you can not carry around a rifle with ammuntion in public.

Authorites say that in tennessee if you have a handgun carry permit, you are allowed to carry a handgun even if there is a large crowd, but it might not be a good idea.

So emotions are really high right now and so it's just never really a great idea to bring a firearm into a large crowd when emotions are so high.

That's not to say that you can't do it.

It started with a few speakers after seven.

There was chanting and a three mile march around downtown that began around 8:30.
