Protests in Eugene continue for the 7th straight night

Hundreds of protesters marched down 8th Avenue to Almaden Street.

They then walked down to the coroner for W.

7th Avenue and Washington Street.

Week later... the protests continue honoring the life of george floyd here in our city.

Thank you for joining us im chynna greene.

Today hundreds of our community members marched for hours.

Kezi 9 news reporter connor mccarthy has walked with them all night.

We find him live downtown...conno r.

Chynna-- the protests ended here at five guys after starting at the federal courthouse around 6 this afternoon...the same place where the destructive riot ended a week ago.

Tongiht there was a completely different message.

Hundreds of protesters marched for hours down 8th avenue in eugene to almaden street and then headed back down 7th avenue.

At one point all the protesters laid down in front of the entrance of i-105 for 8 minutes and 46 seconds.

The same amount of time george flyod was pinned on the ground under the weight of four police officers before he died.

One proter says... this is all very eye opening and educating for oregonians for a lot of people in oregon, they don believe racism is actually something you see here because you don see overt racism.

You only see institutional racism that you see henley says he wants a dialogue to open up and for people to come together and talk about the bigger issue surrounding floyd's death... systemic racism.

Chynna once again this was a successful night of peaceful protests in eugene.

There is another protest planned for tomorrow and kezi will have the latest update from there.
