Driver's license stations reopen Monday to lines, public asked to be patient

Permanent driver’s license stations reopened Monday after being closed throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

Permanent drivers license stations are back open in the state thanks to governor tate reeves' safe return guidelines.

Wtva's wayne hereford reports people waited outside in the rain in starkville to get inside for the first time in weeks due to the coronavirus.

Each had their own reasons.

"so i could come in person because i don't have a computer to do it at home."

Some stood in the rain waiting to get in for the first time since drivers license stations were closed back in march.

"i've been waiting since march.

The day we decided to get my license, a few hours later i saw the article that they had closed all the stations."

Mississippi highway patrol troopers were very cordial here by asking for patience natsot.."if you want to take a test, it will be just a moment."

Because of the coronavirus, they were only allowing a few in at a time.

Officers were not only asking for patience but social distancing as well.

"we just want people to be patient with us.

Because we are here to help them and everything .

We just want to make sure they're mainting social distancing .

And we're recommending that they wear masks."

Trooper beckom says even without a mask folks were allowed to come inside.

For most , it was just a matter of time.

"we were here before the door opened."

"i moved back here in december.

I've been here three times and i have not yet got my drivers license."
