The Whitestown Vets Club in Yorkville was severely damaged during the Halloween Floods in October 2019, and one Life Scout is stepping in to help out.

Our viewing area, and a local boy scout is finding a way to help out one hard hit area.

Nicholas ford, a junior at new york mills high school and life scout in troop 111 is working on an eagle scout project to benefit the whitestown vets club on whitesboro street in yorkville.

This weekend ford will be holding a bottle and can drive to raise funds for the vets club, and assist in repairing things that were destroyed in the flood.

From damaged picnic tables to the mud soaked baseball diamond...and more.

Ford says his eagle scout project is one of the last things he needs to achieve to the rank of eagle, and he wanted to give back to the club where he started boy scouts.

"we had seen that there was a lot of damage here, and when i first moved to this area, my first ever cub scout meeting before i moved up to boy scouts was here at the club.

I chose to do it here to help give back to the vets."

The whitestown veterans club is very appreciative that ford is giving back.

The bottle drive will be 8am-12pm this saturday.

The bottle drive will be from 8:00am-12:00pm saturday in the front parking lot of the vets club on whitesboro street.
