Good evening, i'm hunter petroviak.

Thanks for joining us.

Several local leaders are calling for allen county councilman larry brown to resign after his comments about protestors.

Fox 55's jentill neal tells what they want to happen next.

Jentill?

County councilman larry brown did apologize for his comment, but for fellow elected officials... it's not enough.

"what he said was not funny in any shape or form, and i looked down and thought i can't not believe this."- kenneth fries.that's the voice of at large county councilmen kenneth fries.

Fries was in the room during the open meeting thursday when councilman larry brown ridiculed protesters.

?larry comment on protestors nat?"i know i kind of bounced a little bit, but then i looked up at tom harris because he and larry were friends ."- brown was urging council unity at the time he made the statement ... but now many of his colleagues are united against what he said.

Kenneth fries says an apology is not enough and he's not alone.

15:15:35-15:15:45"i'll tell larry this too.

I would like to see him resign from county council.

I think it was bad enough that he said that and especially in these times."

County councilmen kyle kerley and joel benz also released statements today condeming the comments and urging brown to give deep thought on if he can represent all the voters of his district.

Kerley also suggested diversity training.

Fort wayne city councilman at- large glynn hines along with other black elected officials urged for more diversity in leadership today.> 15:21:42-15:22:07"many of those protestors have college degrees and masters degrees and they're just conscious citizens.

For him to say something as ridiculous as they're uneducated, and they're just breeders is just vile.

It should not have been said and those citizens calling for his recognition as many black elected officials did today, hopefully he will do so."

We did reach out to county councilman larry brown for comment and have not heard back reporting live .jentill neal ... fox 55 news.
