Hundreds of people will be traveling to the rogue valley this week for tournaments at us cellular fields.

Those tournaments provide a huge economic boost that our local hotels and restaurants have come to rely on.

Newswatch 12's alicia rubin spoke with area businesses about their hopes and plans for the return of local tournaments.

The us cellular fields will be hosting over 40 teams as a part of two separate tournaments all happening right here this weekend.

It's the first time something like this is happening since covid-19 closures began and hotels and area restraints are remaining cautiously optimistic.

We can definitely use the business not just me but all the businesses around us too because this will be the first time there is a rush in tourism to the area since coronavirus, both hotels and restaurants are doing their best to prepare.

Stephanie says: "you know there's only so many people we can check in at one time that's going to be something that we have to work around this weekend" roberto says: "our capacity is about 60 people in the restaurant but we're not seating the 60 right now we're only sitting about eight tables at the most" stephanie says: "it's going to be a learning experience" theres another tournament in the books for july so this weekend could reveal what tournaments in the era of the coronavirus will look like.
