The State Bowling Center in Ilion is for sale.

The building has been a staple in the community since the late 1940s.

Owner Rodney Brown said his decision to sell has nothing to do with the current pandemic.

Hard at work.

Fitz hardiman owns adirondack lanes and diner.

.

None .

None "i'm just confused more than anything.

I'm over getting upset because i know they're trying to keep everyone healthy but its confusing when the decisions are made day to day."

Hardiman says the diner section of the building was reopened during phase 3.

He's hoping the governor makes a decision before peak season in the fall.

"we dont know whats going to happen.

If we are without bowling in the fall, it might be the end of the business."

Nats vista lanes over in yorkville, vista lanes owner tony lapolla says he's also waiting for guidance from the state, but says he's already made an opening date.

"waiting for cuomo to give us the ol to open up.

I actually have no intentions of opening until august first and i hope that would be a day for me to open up."

"now lapolla says that once the alley does open back up in august, every touchable surface needs to be cleaned including their bowling balls.

He says it will be alot of work but he's willing to do it."

"i'm ready to go.

I'm reading all of the guidelines that the state has provided for us.

Social distancing we will have signs when they come in.

Staying 6 feet away from the counter."

The question on his mind then is will they come?

"we are hoping that the bowlers arent afraid to come back.

But they will.

Utica is a bowling city and alot of bowlers want to come back."

Coming up at 6 the owner of an ilion bowling alley shares his plans for reopening and his reason for selling the business.
