New overnight& a springfield man is in custody charged with trying to slash his roommate's throat!
We've been in touch with the lane county jail, and springfield police all morning working to get the suspect's mugshot.
It appears he's still being interviewed by investigators.
His arrest comes after he avoided officers for hours.
Kezi 9 news reporter jacob roberts joins us live from the apartment on "r street" where it happened.
Police said joseph wolf was inside one of these apartments behind me when he came downstairs and tried to slash his roomates throat without saying a word.
But wolf reportedly missed and cut the victim on the chin instead.
That's when wolf left and started walking down the street to the east.
This happened here in the 1000 block of 'r' street around 1:30 yesterday afternoon.
Police searched for the 20-year-old wolf after he left the apartment but couldn't find him.
Then around midnight last night an officer was driving on debra street and saw wolf walking northbound, but he disappeared.
Then around 1:30 a.m., police and a k-9 unit found the man hiding in a backyard on roseblossom avenue, not far from where he was last seen.
Wolf was taken into custody and is now in the lane county jail.
He faces attempted murder and assault charges.
