Breweries Unite

There's a collaboration between breweries across the country... and here in kentucky... you may have seen on social media using the hashtag black is beautiful beer.

Breweries across the u-s are selling the new beer... which is exciting for brew fans... but it's the message behind the pour that's sparking conversation.

Fullscreen: according to it's website... the effort seeks to quote: "raise awareness for the injustices people of color face daily... and raise funds for police brutality reform and legal defenses for those who have been wronged."

L3: abc 36 news white brews for a cause more than a thousand breweries have joined in the cause... including seven here in kentucky... they include: ethereal, mirror twin and pivot brewing here in lexington.

Those who take part are asked to donate 100-percent of the beer's proceeds to local foundations supporting the mission, among other requests.

Pivot brewing is donating their funds to the louisville bailout fund... to help pay for lawyers to help those who have been wrongfully convicted.

Bailey johnson, marketing and sustainability manager at pivot brewing says, they've received nothing but support from their customers and supporters.

L3: abc 36 news white bailey johnson pivot brewing "it's really hard in the brewing industry to have a voice when it comes to something like this because it is such a white community truthfully and it's not like we personally are saying that we're not diverse and we're not inclusive, it's that we want to be able to show people that we want you here, we want you to be around, we're very happy to have you here and we want to be involved in some way."
