A beloved member of the oriskany fire department was laid to rest today.

Charles 'bud' koss died unexpectedly this past week at the young age of 52.

News channel two's gary liberatore joins us now with more on a very emotional procession held by his fire department this morning.

And gary, this man was well loved in oriskany.

He sure was...as could be seen by the huge turnout today...and tears.

Earlier at 5:30, we shared fire chief jeff burkhart's emotion about his assistant chief....bud koss.

But it has always made sure the new firefighters learned what a brotherhood was, but more importantly he became a mentor and positive role model for our younger members."

He loved being part of the brotherhood, honoring the tradition and teaching the new members the ropes.

His personality matched well in this fire house and we will forever be grateful for all those lives he touched."

Nat of bagpipes up.......fade down... bud koss was also involved in the cny stair climb at the state office building....the same builsing where koss worked as a senior superintendent for the new york state office of general services...and the same building where he unexpectedly died this past week.
