Demarcus Walker's death ruled a homicide

Allen County Coroner said a Fort Wayne man who was beaten with baseball bat is now the city's 25th homicide.

Good evening i'm hunter petroviak.thanks for joining us.a family is speaking out tonight after their loved one is now the 25th homicide in fort wayne.demarcus walker was a victim of a battery where he was hit with a baseball bat at the apple glen walmart.fox 55's jentill neal talked to demarcus walker's family today about what they would like to happen next.

The allen county coroner says 44 year old demarcus walker died from blunt force injuries to the head after he beaten in this parking lot in march.his daughter says it's a hate crime.>20:25:09-20:25:19"with george floyd, and all the protests going on, i think that his case is very relevant."police arrested and charged 21 year- old levi arnold with attempted murder.

Now walkers family is hoping prosecutorsupgrade the charge to murder.20:26:04-20:26:22"i hope that there's no games being played around.

I hope he gets the right sentencing.

I don't want him to get by with anything because at the end of the day it was a crime."for walker's father, it feels like yesterday.his son spent days in the hospital fighting for his life.he says the family is doing the best they can dealing with the loss."i just want justice.

I want this guy to spend his life in jail for killing my son."
