Bahamas to Ban Most International Flights Due to Coronavirus Surge The ban on international flights is one of several restrictions announced by Prime Minister Hubert Minnis on Sunday.
Prime Minister Hubert Minnis, via NBC News Since reopening borders on July 1, coronavirus cases have nearly tripled to 153 in a country of 400,000 residents.
Among many of the new cases were those who had recently returned home to the Bahamas.
Commercial flights containing no passengers from Canada, the U.K. and the E.U.
Will be allowed to pick up passengers in the Bahamas.
On the main island, Grand Bahama, parks and beaches will be closed.
A nightly curfew will also be enforced.
The new restrictions are set to go into effect on Wednesday.
