A federal financial boost that kept many afloat has run out.

At 5 o'clock...we told you the "600"-dollar federal supplement as part of the "cares act" has run out in indiana and illinois.

Today news 10's richard solomon spoke with a local woman who says she depended on that money.

Richard joins us now live in the newsroom with her reaction.

Liz fugate has been unemployed for since early april.

The unemployment checks were helping her stay afloat.

She told me now she doesn't know what going to happen.

Pk} <" the financial safety net liz fugate and many others were crutching on has come to an end.

"it is a real difficult time.

I don't know what i'm going to do if they take away extra unemployment" on saturday july 25th...the $600 federal supplement check a part of the cares act...tapped out.

For fugate...that was her only source of income.

"this extra money was helping me catch up on bills and keep us from being homeless so whenever they're going to take this away i'm not working and 60 dollars aint going to do nothing" she told me she can't work because of her daughter.

"i have to stay home i work customer service and i have a child wo's susceptible to the virus so she can't go to day care."

Fugate says she doesn't want to take that risk by her going back to work.

"it didn't run out of money it ran out of time" dr. robert guell teaches economics at indiana state university.

He says government leaders are discussing a possible solution.

Guells says republican leaders have suggested reducing the amount to $100 a week.

But democrats are pushing that the $600 payments will continue through the rest of the year.

"if all of this is taken away all of a sudden that's going to be really hard.

You do have to maintain a socially consious safety net" and that's what fugate is hoping for.

She says not everyone in her situation wants to sit at home not working.

"there are people who are caregivers or parents or a single mom or a single dad that have a child that is susceptible to the virus and there isn't a work at home option from their job.

Richar} the unemployment checks for indiana and illinois ran out on july 25th.

Other states are set to expire july 31st.
