Today a group of racial justice advocates held a demonstration outside the county courthouse.

News 18's micah upshaw tells us how this group is working to re-imagine policing and the prison system.

U: safer communities are not communities that are more heavily policed or have more police, they're communities that are well resourced.

M: organizers of this demonstration are looking at how tippecanoe county leaders are re sourcing its funds.

They're also looking at ways some of those funds could go toward other community organizations.

U: if we have more money going towards these resources that m: ulyssa hester is a member of the collective, an advocate group that fights for black and brown people.

Hester said in addition to looking at county expenditures, the monstration is alsworking addrey police.
