Superintendent: First Day Of School Successful

Teachers and parents in Limestone County were anxious to get back to some normalcy as schools re-opened for the 2020-2021 school-year.

Had their first day today.

Many teachers and parents in limestone county were anxious to get back to some normalcy today.

Waay-31s alexis scott learned how important it was for some students to have the opportunity for traditional learning this fall.

With masks on and bookbags filled...students were ready to take on the day for the first day back on limestone county.

Parents told me some kids need in person learning for their emotional stability and for one on one help with school work.

Reese beaty "anything you want to say to your teachers today?

Thank yo for being such a nice teacher.

And i love school and all the other teachers, they're nice too" reese beaty is enrolled at cedar hill elementary school.

She told me class looks different but shes happy to be back...and her teachers agree.

Rebecca theiry, 4th grade teacher "our goal is to stay in our classrooms. we will go to virtual, if it's needed but our goal is to stay and have and build these relationships with the kids, " rebecca theiry is a fourth grade teacher and she told me its required of kids in the county to wear a mask while in the classroom and on the bus.

When in the room...they must keep 6-feet apart.

Some parents like chrissy nave believe the school sysyem is doing the best it can ro be as safe as possible because many kids need in person teaching styles.

She told me new school and old school learnings just dont mix and she wants her to have the best learning experience possible.

Chrissy nave, parent 6:11-6:32 "if we don't take risks, then we can't achieve so she has to risk to learn.

If she gets it, then we know how to handle it and if she doesn't get it, then she can learn," and while this school year will be like none other.

Many students are just happy to see their friends and teachers for the next several weeks!

"i'm glad we can be back with them and have fun even though we have to social distance and wear masks i'm glad we're back.

I missed them a lot" the limestone county superintendent told me they ar taking it day by day... but the first day was a success and they're hoping every day can be like this one.
