After an assisted living facility caught fire.

Firefighters responded to a structure fire at friendship house in west lafayette this evening.

Wlfd fire chief tim heath says the call came in at 7pm.

There was heavy smoke visibly coming from an apartment on the first floor on theest side of the building.

Chief heath says neighbors got the resident out safely.

And that it took less than a minute for them to get the fire under control.

He says they took time to assess all residents of the assisted living facility to make sure they were breathing ok.
