For bowling alley owners across the state, Friday has been a long time coming.

Governor Cuomo announced bowling alleys will be allowed to reopen on Monday as long as they follow specific health guidelines.

Say they're facing financial hardship.

As news channel 2's brent kearney shows us, its full speed ahead getting the lanes ready to go.

Vista lanes owner tony lapolla was overcome with emotion after hearing the govenor's announcement.

None "my bowlers are ready i'm already getting many phone calls after this announcement and we're doing the best we can and we just can't wait."

Lapolla says the decision came just in time as many alley owners were faced with financial hardhsip "well we're running out of money and i just want to make sure we can get through.

Even though we did get some money from the goverment, its still not enough to keep us going.

So we do need some income to keep us alive."

But their are some new rules bowling alleys need to follow.

"masks will be required when bowling and every other lane will be open to promote social distancing (nats balls hitting pins) assemblywoman marrianne buttenschon is one of the many elected officials advocating for bowling alleys to reopen.

"they have started putting these plans together in march and have been working collaboratively with various bowling allies across the state to try and determine how everyone in their facilities is safe.

Senator joe griffo says one alley's plan locally was used as guide for the state.

"king pin lanes in rome was used as a model plan for the staff at the empire state development corporation.

Who were viewing some of the plans."

King pin lanes owner craig vogel says the decision came just in time for league season, which craig says makes up a majority of the lane's revenue.

"all of our league meetings are next week so we're going to meeting with our league officers and secretaries."

But both eager to welcome back their customers.

"all i can say is yippeey its about time."
