New york state governor andrew cuomo is giving gyms and fitness centers the authority to reopen on monday august 24th once they conform to state guidelines.

Gyms and fitness centers have been closed down since mid- march.

Gym owners like alex carbone have complied with all the state mandates, but six months of being closed down has certainly had a financial impact.

You know we still had bills to pay, we still had rent to meet, and we were able to meet all that, so we're in a fortunate position where we can get through this on the other side.

Oneida county executive anthony picente says the county has a two week time period to complete all the inspections.

He thinks the state could have moved quicker on a reopening plan for gyms, but says they're not like other businesses.
